Information for users on the processing of their personal data

Pursuant to and for the purposes of Article 13 of EU Regulation 2016/679

Samo S.p.A., data controller of the personal data processed through the use of cookies and similar technolo-gies on the www.samo.it website, releases the following information pursuant to Article 13 of EU Regulation 2016/679 and pursuant to the General Measure of the Italian Privacy Authority of 8 May 2014. This text pro-vides useful information for a better understanding of cookies and for the enabling/disabling of cookies while browsing.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on users’ terminals by the server of the website they are visiting. They contain information related to the user’s browsing which can be read by the server that sent them during subsequent browsing sessions.

Cookies can be placed by the Data Controller (so-called “first party” cookies) or they can be placed by “third parties”. “Third party” cookies are special types of cookies managed by a website other than the one the user is browsing, but connected to it, and used to manage particular types of content. They usually concern im-ages, sounds or other elements that reside outside the website being visited.

What are cookies for?

Cookies are used for various purposes, among which we can mention: facilitating the execution of processes related to web browsing with the aim of automating some of the operations that otherwise would have to be repeated each time you browse a website; storing information about configurations of the user’s terminal; memorising browsing preferences; monitoring technical elements related to the browsing session.

Types of cookies

Cookies can be of various types depending on the type of data they store and how long it remains stored on the user’s device. Session or temporary cookies are those that expire or are cancelled when the browser is closed, while persistent cookies have longer expiration periods, depending on the functions they perform. It is these functions that divide cookies into two categories: “technical” and “profiling”.

“Technical” cookies are:

  • “Navigation or session” cookies that ensure normal browsing and use of the website (allowing, for exam-ple, authentication of access to a reserved area) and avoid the use of other technologies that could po-tentially compromise the confidentiality of the user’s browsing and which do not allow the acquisition of the user’s personal identification data;

  • “Analytical” “first party” and even “third party “cookies used to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they browse the website;

  • “Functional” cookies that allow the user to browse according to a series of selected criteria (the lan-guage, for example) in order to improve the service provided to him or her.

“Profiling” cookies are those used to create profiles related to the user and subsequently used for the pur-poses of sending out advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the latter in the context of surfing the web.

Which cookies do we use?

The website uses “technical” cookies to ensure and facilitate browsing and the use of services and to collect information, in aggregate form, on visits to the website. The cookies used are both “first party” and “third party” cookies.

“Profiling” cookies are not used on the website.

The website uses the cookies shown in the following tables:

Managing cookies

For the installation of “first party” and “third party” “technical” cookies (in the latter case, tools are adopted for reducing the identifying power of cookies and the third party does not cross reference the data collected with other, already collected, data), the prior consent of the user is not required.

In any case, the user will see a banner informing him or her of the existence of the cookies and, by continu-ing to browse the website, either by clicking on any element of the website or on an image, by simply scroll-ing down the page or else by clicking on the “OK” button and closing the informational banner, you consent to the use of the cookies described in this statement.

The user can deactivate the cookie functions directly from the browser he or she is using; this deactivation, however, can slow down or prevent access to some parts of the website.

Consent to receive cookies can also be expressed through specific browser configurations. Most browsers allow you to set rules to manage cookies sent by some or by all websites, an option that offers the user more precise control of privacy and removes the possibility of receiving those cookies, or else to change the choi-ces made previously.

Here are some links to explanations for the user on how to manage cookies for the most popular internet browsers:
